Mistletoe Market!

Christopher and I have allowed ourselves to treat this weekend as such instead of hunkering down just to do work alone.  That is usually how our weekends go and Tuesday is our day "off" for fun.

This Saturday (and the next two) is Mistletoe Market at the Community Market.  Festivities, local vegetables and baked goods, and free horse-drawn carriage rides.  I was really excited to start a new family tradition by taking Eliot on a carriage ride.  We didn't go last year because it was cold and snowing.  So, we headed downtown to the market and signed up right away.  They said the wait would be an hour, so we walked around and checked out what we wanted to buy afterward.

After it had been an hour, we went to check on our spot.  It looked like our name wasn't on the list....  For the record, we didn't just miss our name being called.  We checked back about four times and the last time, we realized that they must have written our name down wrong or something.  No big deal, though.  Eliot had been so patient and good, but it was cold and we didn't think it'd be best to hang around for a carriage ride that Eliot probably wouldn't care all that much about anyway.  I just really wanted a photo of Eliot and a horse, which I got, so we were happy.  And bought some goodies.

After some lunch, we went for our run down Rivermont.  Then we took Elizabeth to Given's with us to pick out some wooden blocks with letters for Eliot to play with.  On to the grocery store.  Took Elizabeth home...  And made dinner to eat while watching Indiana Jones.  The end!

Currently, Eliot is crawling in circles around the Christmas tree.  Earlier, Dexter (our younger dachshund) was crawling under the tree skirt to find the source of the lights while Eliot kept lifting up the tree skirt to cover his face--he thought they were playing peek-a-boo.  Man, Eliot sure is hyper at night.  However, he has started doing very cute things while playing.  He has recently been in a throwing phase where "playing" means throwing, but today he gently handed me his blocks one by one.  And then he helped put his new wooden blocks away in their bag!  The boy cleans!  He has also been imitating us more, like making his car go "vroom" when we prompt him and shaking toys when we shake them too.  I love that boy.
